The MC112CS is a media converter designed to convert 100BASE-FX fiber cable to 100Base-TX copper cable or vice versa. The MC112CS incorporates WDM technology whereby only a single fiber cable is required to transmit and receive data, saving half the cost of cables. The MC112CS is designed following the IEEE 802.3u 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX standards and uses single-mode fiber cable with an SC-type connector. The MC112CS supports the Longwave (LX) laser specification at the maximum cable transmission speed. It works at 1310nm when sending data and at 1550nm when receiving. In this way, the device that works in conjunction with the MC112CS must work at 1550 nm when sending data and 1310 nm when receiving. TP-LINK's MC111CS media converter is just one of the devices that can work in conjunction with the MC112CS.
Other advantages of this module is the possibility of using it independently (without the need for a casing). In addition, it automatically detects both the MDI/MDI-X mode and the Duplex mode on the TX port and includes status LEDs on its front panel. The MC112CS extends the optical transmission distance range up to 20 kilometers using single mode fiber.
